Mrs. Melissa Taguchi

ABOUT ME

Greetings! My name is Melissa Taguchi, and this is my fourth year teaching at Saint Zachary School. I am a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, and I earned my masters and Reading Specialist certification through Roosevelt University. I started my career teaching 9th and 10th grade English with Chicago Public Schools. I am looking forward to this new school year, and all of the exciting novels we will study! All junior high ELA students will study the conventions of English. We will explore topics like grammar, literary devices, vocabulary, spelling, reading strategies, and writing. This year students will write a narrative, expository, and an argumentative essay connected to their novel study. We will read and discuss literature of all genres! Students can look forward to literature circles and creative projects. It’s going to be an exciting year!
